Plywood People is a division of Suffered Enough, a 501(c)3 organization formed to creatively support organizations conducting charitable activities and to provide relief to the poor, distressed and underprivileged. We do this in 2 ways. Education [conferences/events]and Implementation [Gift Card Giver/Billboard Bags]
We’re often asked about the story behind our name. Why Plywood People? When you go to any place where poverty is in an issue, whether it’s Africa, Cambodia, Guatemala, Nicaragua, New Orleans, South Atlanta, or Philly, one common thread between the places is plywood. It covers windows and doors to create short terms solutions.
Plywood is an inexpensive short term solution to chronic, long term problems. Over the course of a couple years, after traveling to many of these places, Jeff Shinabarger saw that there was a common thread in each of these communities of people working hard to restore these communities. These people were giving their lives to finding long terms solutions to age old problems. They were dedicating their lives to solve the issues that lead to the dilapidation in communities. These people weren’t satisfied with plywood on windows and doors. They desire to see communities changed, and they’re doing the hard work to make it happen.
We call these people Plywood People.
So that’s why we’re called Plywood People. We want to highlight and contribute to the work these people are doing. All of us collectively want to be known by the problems we solve. We also want to be contributing solutions, and empower others to do the same.
What we do:
We host and curate a series of conferences, events, and retreats geared toward enabling entrepreneurs to pursue their ideas. We believe we have a voice to speak into these projects because we’ve implemented our own.
Gift Card Giver: We collect unused/partially used gift cards, and then give them to people and organizations in need.
Billboard Bags: We have a job training course, where we employ refugees to make bags out of billboards
and then we sell the products wholesale, and in retail shops.
Education: We want to see creative ideas thrive, and we want to be apart of the history of organizations and businesses as they pursue their ideas. Our conferences and events are aimed at helping people make their ideas happen. Our goal is to be the connecting point between business leaders, nonprofits activists, and creative professionals.
Our Events include:
WE WILL BE KNOWN BY THE PROBLEMS WE SOLVE.
