Plywood People is all about addressing social needs in our nation. We love finding the good, the true, and the beautiful; the creative ways positive change is happening all across our nation.
Growing up in Michigan and loving the Midwest is one of the parts of me that I hold very dear. I live in the South now and enjoy it, but I love that I am a true Northerner (or Yankee, if you must) at heart. Now I grew up on the west side near Lake Michigan, however, on the east side is the most well known city in Michigan…yup, you got it DETROIT. I am sure as you read those words, pictures came to your mind…let’s see, maybe some abandoned buildings, maybe a few crack houses, maybe empty streets, maybe even a bunch of homeless guys sitting against an old brick building?
Well, I did not grow up in Detroit, but I do LOVE my Midwest Michigan roots and I have to say that finding this documentary that showed that Detroit is not those negative images portrayed by the media, brought happiness to my soul. This is such a great video and gets me really excited about the possibility of Detroit….it almost made me want to move back!
