It was a while back now, that I started logging daily the things that I’m grateful for. It’s been an incredible discipline and exercise for me. It was life-changing for me when I started the practice, and now that I’m in the rhythm of it, I recognize the days that pass when I haven’t acknowledged grace and goodness in my life.
It’s remembering that keeps me going with this discipline. It’s the most powerful motivator for me as I think through what life brings my way. When I remember the ways in which God has been faithful to me, I’m able to acknowledge all the things that I’m undeserving of, but given just the same. This Thanksgiving I wanted to share with you a few of the simple and beautiful things that I may have forgotten had I not written them down. This is my remembering.
-Coming home after being away.
-Baking delicious Morning Glory bread.
-Meeting for the first time the women who make our Billboard Bags.
-A Snow Day!
-Dinner In.
-Friends who give selflessly to make life easier and more meaninguful.
-Coconut Coffee
-Pretty songs that perfectly match the weather and my mood.
-Spending an afternoon with friends on my porch.
-The amazing way sleep helps heal the heart.
-The beautiful time with my family after my Grandmother passed away.
-Celebrating friends’ weddings.
-Getting lost in a good story.
Remembering all that has happened since November 2010 is bittersweet. There have been such hard things, but also beautiful and healing things as well. What about you? What have you been especially grateful for? How has your gratitude changed you?
