Why should i join?

As social entrepreneurs' passions continue to grow, Plywood People has felt a growing need to help leaders continue to hone their skills, receive feedback about their projects, and be encouraged to move their ideas to the next level. This is the purpose of Foundations.

what can i expect?

Foundations is an intensive and immersive curriculum that takes place with a small group over the course of four months.

Aside from the great people and the time away from the day-to-day craziness, you can also expect to:

  • learn the ten foundational categories of an organization (like cash, operations, engagement...).

  • be introduced and advised by Plywood Advisors on each category.

  • create, update and complete a Business Model Canvas.

  • receive strategic support and accountability.

Where & when is it?

Foundations take place during a half-day session in February, April & May as well as a three-day retreat in March.

The half-day sessions take place at Plywood Place in Atlanta. The retreat is held at multiple homes on Lake Jackson, a beautiful rural lake community 45 minutes southeast of Atlanta. We eat meals at big community tables, and we learn from advisors on plush leather couches or in fireside rocking chairs. With true community intentionality, each participant will be matched with a roommate (although couples will stay together).

The next Foundations half-days will occur in early 2019. *Dates coming soon.

Foundations is limited to 20 participants.

What does it cost?

Foundations is $1500, including all meals and lodging. Alternately, the investment may be paid in four installments of $400. Partial scholarships are also available in certain cases.

I highly recommend the Plywood Retreat! Our Paint Love team walked away with clarity of purpose and new actionable objectives. The Plywood Retreat provided us a wealth of knowledge and a network of support, in addition to the encouragement needed to keep pushing forward with our dream.

The quality of the participants, the guest speakers, and the Plywood staff are something I would expect at a top notch for-profit investor conference, but to find this quality of individual focused on building organizations to improve the lives of others is incredible and humbling.

The Plywood Retreat helped me move my business forward in a way I never would have been able to achieve on my own. I came to the retreat with barely more than an idea and a crude prototype for a product I didn’t even know if people would want. There, I connected with like-minded entrepreneurs and learned about the resources available to a newbie like me. I also learned a lot about myself.
